Seeing Clearly The Importance Of Eye Care

In the United States and around the world, individuals all share one thing in common. They want to be healthy. In order to ensure that they are truly healthy, people visit the doctor for annual checkups, eat nutritious food, exercise at least thirty minutes five days a week, and take vitamins and minerals. Going through these health procedures on a daily basis, will increase your chance of living a happy, healthy life and decrease your chances of contracting diseases and illnesses. However, there is another procedure you should undergo that actually tells you a lot about what is occurring in your body and how your health is. This procedure is an eye exam. Here is all you need to know about the importance of eye care.

Eye Care

Eye doctors at eye clinics recommend eye exams depending on your age. Children should begin their eye care if they complain about their eyes and not being able to see clearly. If you’re twenty years of age to thirty nine, you should continue your eye care and get a local eye exam every five years. Forty years of age to fifty four would be every two to four years. As you increase in age, your eye care is more frequent. However, it is important to note that if you experience eye problems daily, you’ll have to see an eye doctor more often. It all depends on the person! This is also true for people who wear eye glasses or use contact lenses.

The Importance Of Eye Care

Yes, it is a well known fact that your eyes are important. After all, without our eyes and its proper eye care, we would not be able to see clearly. In fact, an eye doctor can find out other medical conditions you may have by looking at your eyes. This includes, but is not limited to, lupus, issues with blood pressure, diabetes, and issues with cholesterol. Therefore, your eyes can save your life and diagnose you with diseases or illnesses you may not know you have.

Brain Health: Your eyes and your brain are connected. In fact, the optic nerve connects eyes to the brain, therefore, they have a correlation with one another. This means that if one part is healthy than the other part is healthy as well. Needless to say, if you focus on your eye care and have healthy eyes, than you will have a healthy brain too! What’s better than a healthy brain?

Helps Children: As previously mentioned, some start their eye care early in their childhood. In the United States today, we have a screen time epidemic. Many children spend most of their hours outside of school in front of a screen. This could be a television screen, a computer screen, a phone screen, and an iPad screen. These bright screens can affect children’s eyes significantly. The effects of a screen are not positive in nature. Instead, children can experience trouble with their vision. In order to ensure that children are seeing clearly, and consequently succeeding in school, you need to take your child to an eye doctor. Eye care really does help children!

Myopia: Another reason to focus on eye care for children is myopia. Myopia is nearsightedness, and more children are being diagnosed with this. Eye care helps prevent this as well as any older disease that can develop when children get older.
